Being good at a job you’re proud of can change your life. But getting access to the training, services and resources you need to find and be prepared for work can be easier said than done. That’s where we come in.

Our employment services are dedicated to helping Piikani Nation members living on reserve access the training, services and resources needed to find and be prepared for work. We offer everything from career counselling, resumé building, interview preparation and work experience to training programs and funding to help you find meaningful and sustainable work. No matter where you may be on your job search journey, the Piikani Employment Services team is committed to helping you succeed.

SECURING PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT

Training to enhance your skills

Our team will work hard to connect you with 3-12 month training programs that will qualify you for employment. These could include:

  • Safety Ticket Training
  • Skill Enhancement
  • Pre-Apprenticeships
  • Vocational Studies

You may also be eligible for funding to cover things like tuition, books, a living allowance and a one-time bursary for work clothes.

To be eligible for these training opportunities through Piikani Employment Services, you must be:

  • A Piikani Nation member
  • 18+ years old
  • Unemployed or receiving social assistance
  • Living on Piikani 147 reserve

If you are a Piikani Nation member living off-reserve, we encourage you to visit your local employment centre. (Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Calgary)

GOING BACK TO SCHOOL

Educational Opportunities

If you’re thinking of returning to school to secure a brighter future, our career counsellors can help you develop an action plan to make your intentions a reality. If you are entering a one-year certificate program or are in your final two semesters of a diploma or degree program, you may also qualify for funding to help you cover costs.

Understand your talents

Our career counsellors can help you align your skills and aspirations to find a job that fits your life and values. They can assist you with developing an action plan, crafting resumés and cover letters, job search preparation and interview readiness. They can liaise with community service agencies and inform you of current training and job opportunities.

If you need access to a computer, phone/fax, printers, or other resources, visit us during office hours. Our staff will do all they can to ensure you have the resources you need to succeed.
